About Dov

One Saturday afternoon when I was a kid, I was looking through the books on my parents’ bookshelf in our living room. I pulled out a whitespined hardcover book that simply said “Diane Arbus”. It was her Aperture Monograph. The photos inside opened my mind to a world I’d never known, partly curious, partly uncomfortable, but always intimate and stark.

My grandfather passed down his Canon AE-1 to me when I was a tweenager, along with a Kodak book about 35mm photography - both the technical and the creative. I studied that book over and over. I found different types of film and started playing around, trying to emulate some of the iconic photos I’d seen in books and museums.

Now, while my tastes have changed and my methods have evolved, my curiosity and hunger for images has only grown. I like to say that I don’t have a photographic memory, but a memory for photographs. And faces, but that’s another story.

I’m a graduate of Boston University, and a member of the Motion Picture Editors Guild.  My hobbies include drumming, playing and designing tabletop games, and cooking.  I live and work in New Hampshire with my wife, two daughters, and Beagle.
